Why Location Matters

The Same Metro, Very Different Basements

A basement in Denver and one in Thornton can be generations apart. Census estimates put about a third of Denver’s homes before 1960, while close to half of Thornton’s were built in 2000 or later. The age of a house shapes what new framing has to work around.

The ground varies too. A Colorado Geological Survey report places moderately swelling soils across much of the Denver area, especially the south, southeast, and west. Where a basement slab can move, any wall framed on top of it should be able to float.
